We did it! We sold everything at our first ever event for Barkeryoven. Very happy and proud and tired. Although most of the selling was done by my two elves. 🙂

This Pet Carnavale was organised by the graduating class of IACT college on behalf of SPCA to raise awareness for prevention against animal cruelty. The turnout was reasonable. Besides us, there were other pet shop sellers selling pet fashion, pet accessories, pet food and pet photography. Jaya One also very graciously donated the venue to the organisers and allowed pets to roam around. That made the event a lot more fun. This is a pet event after all.

As you can see, I brought Miki there to let him see the sights. The poor thing, not used to crowds and the noise level, was shivering non-stop. Really must bring Miki out to socialise more often. Its also interesting seeing so many dogs and their owners and how they interact.

Can’t wait till the next bazaar / dog event that we are participating in. Will update details soon!

Took some photos of Miki when I was taking Barkery Oven’s product shots. Its been a while since we’ve taken photos of our dog. Miki is 3 years old already. How time flies.

Miki looking shy. Had to call him few times to look at the camera.

Love this shot. Not easy to get a smiling shot of Miki.

Miki eyeing the Rye and Molasses biscuits I made.

For the past week, I’ve been doing quite a bit of baking. Baked three types of biscuits. Well, more like, baked two types, the last one’s still in the refrigerator chilling. Coz I’ve run out of containers to keep the biscuits.

When it comes to baking, I love baking biscuits coz I LOVE eating biscuits and ONLY the imported kinds. Which is becoming a bit of an expensive ‘addiction’. So baking’s the best way to go. I get more for every ringgit spent. Must be frugal a bit lah, so that I can spend more on…erm…clothes? hahaha

First bake was a dog biscuit which I’ve sold to my first customer (woo hoo!!).

Chicken & Rosemary Biscuit – 200gm for RM25.

Ingredients are fresh chicken breast, flax seed, rye flour, olive oil and chicken broth

I use rye flour, which is a wheat free and gluten free flour coz my dog has skin allergies. Last year, when I started baking dog treats for him using plain flour or wholemeal flour, his skin turned red with rashes! Had to bring him to the vet to get it treated. The poor thing. So now I’m a lot more careful with what I feed my dog.

I’ve been dabbling in baking my own dog treats. Kinda like a new hobby that hopefully can become a money earner for me. However, I’ve also been rather inconsistent. Sometimes bake. Often times, too lazy. Hence, nothing’s come of it. :p

Second bake was a White Cheddar Shortbread.

This is a recipe that I got from a blog called Vegetable Matter . These turned out rather good. VERY RICH. So rich that every piece I munch on makes me feel like I’m putting on kilos!! And unfortunately, ToyBoy isn’t too keen on all that cheese. So I’ve been eating them alone.

Third bake was chocholate chocolate chip cookies. I love chocolate. Especially chocolate chip cookies made with quality chocolate that are rich and not too sweet. Will post this up once I’ve baked them. Which is after I buy some new containers. ^0^

Have a good weekend everyone.

If you are ever going towards Port Dickson using the “Trunk” Road (forgive the pun!), please be aware of Elephants crossing the road along Jalan Besar in Lukut.  LOL! Nah, no elephants actually. I feel so lame now for that pun and for laughing at my own joke. Anyway, there is this Lucky Lukut Seafood Restaurant selling huge a** Curry Chicken Pau which really is fit for an elephant.

For that Buttery Flavour!

For that Buttery Flavour!

That sheen makes you just want to chomp on it!
RM 18 for One Pau

It is so aromatic, you will want to buy up the whole lot.

We spoil our dog to bits. And you can see by looking at his dinner meals and my dinner meals. Even on nights where I have to placate my stomach with IndoMee Goreng, my dog is happily muching away on his plate of grilled Beef Steak sauteed with herbs from our garden.

And on nights where he is supposed to have lighter meals…

…this is what he gets.

I think dogs are getting more and more pampered by us human beings and I dare say they deserve it!! Of course, not to the degree of buying him a Harry Winston dog collar (watch Beverly Hills Chihuahua the movie). It is probably more ex than my car. Nor an LV bag to carry him around. Imagine everytime getting one for him and ToyGirl screaming for another, I think that is way beyond my mortal abilities. But bringing them tasty treats, a lovely bed, favourite toys and homecooked food are good returns for all the joy, loyalty and happiness they bring to you. So when we heard about the Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better organisation, we decided to bring Mochi to have a look (ToyGirl thought we could find him a little brother or sister).

We were trying to convince a friend to adopt this one since he was planning to get a dog for his home. Although I can’t remember the gender, it was fleecy white and playful.

This one was definitely smiling for us!

The younger puppies are sleeping away but it is understandable. Imagine being moved and examined the whole day.

All in all, I would say that it was a successful campaign (I hope it was anyway!), I saw many people bringing their new member of the family home and those who can’t, they donated to the cause and even purchased various products as charity to the dogs welfare.

So I don’t think we spoil our Mochi too much. He really deserves every bit of treats we give him for all the joy he brings to us. Check out the Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better and support the cause. Kudos to the organisers!
